From July 28th to August 2nd, 280 French young people came together at Oldenburg for the TeenStreet congress. This year’s theme was “Life,” with the key text being: “In the beginning was He who is the Word of God…. All things were created by Him; in Him was life, and this life was the light of men.” (John 1:1-4)
Lautrice, coach for the first time at TeenStreet shared: “I had the opportunity to mentor 6 girls by helping them to establish a closer walk with Jesus. Some of them agreed to surrender their lives to Christ. Others were already Christians, and emerged strengthened in their faith. Still others lacked the courage to take the plunge. However God is faithful; He always completes what He’s begun. I encouraged all of them – Christian or not, to take part in next year’s TeenStreet…they wouldn’t be disappointed.”
Another element in Teenstreet this year was the Global Village experience. Young people lined up to apply for a visa in order to visit two totally contrasting kingdoms. “The kingdom of God does not come visibly. No one will say “Come here – it’s here” or
“it’s over there”…be assured the kingdom of God is among you.” In the light of these words of Jesus in Luke 17:20-21, the teens were able to reflect on their own life directions, and what the implications were for their daily lives.
Lots of participants were deeply moved by this experience. Here are just a few examples of the various reactions: “It helped me to grow in faith, and to make wise decisions with regard to my life’s direction.” “The Global Village demonstrated to me just what Jesus has done for us.”
