In July, a team of 17 enthusiastic OMers went to a little city in the region of Alsace (eastern France). The Christian school in Guebwiller needed help refurbishing and repainting different rooms. Another goal was to reach the local community.
Tim, a participant from this one-week outreach, tells his story:
“One afternoon at the kids’ club, a local resident, a North African man, approached us and began to talk with me and one of the youth from the church. He said we should not be there and we should leave. He told us he would go and get the Muslim elders to talk with us and convince us to leave the neighbourhood.
“After talking with him for some time, we were able to share our faith, what we believe, and a testimony. We also had to convince him we were believing Christians.
“He decided we could stay, and he left us alone, after telling the local children to keep away from us. This was a real reminder of what we are up against when we step out in faith.”
